Paste the Way You Want With Smart Tags

Smart tag buttons appear when you perform certain tasks such as pasting text or graphics. These buttons display a list of options when clicked. Microsoft FrontPageŽ version 2002 uses a smart tag called the Paste Options button. The Paste Options button appears immediately after pasting text or a graphic, and provides quick and easy options for formatting your pasted item.

When you paste content into your FrontPage-based web site from other applications, you can now decide whether you want to preserve the formatting from the document you copied ("Keep Source Formatting"), use the current web page's style to change the formatting ("Use Destination Styles"), or strip out all formatting to paste plain text ("Keep Text Only").

To use the Paste Options smart tag, open a new or existing page in FrontPage 2002 and do the following:

  1. Highlight and Copy a piece of information from another source (Microsoft Word document, Excel spread sheet, or another website).
  2. In FrontPage, Page view, select Paste from the Edit menu. The Paste Options smart tag icon will pop up next to the pasted information.
  3. Click on the Smart Tag icon to make the drop down box appear.
  4. Select one of the paste format options and continue editing your web page.

Tip: To display the Styles and Formatting Task Pane, select the Apply Style or Formatting option in the Smart Tag drop down box. From this Task Pane you can customize or create a new style.
